About a month into her tenure as the new President and CEO of the Intermodal Association of North America, Anne Reinke returns to The Intermodal Logistics Podcast to discuss her new role leading IANA.
Anne tells us how she's approached the early days of her leadership by meeting with staff and board members to hear their thoughts, how it feels to succeed Joni Casey, who led IANA for 27 years before retiring at the end of 2024, and what she sees going forward for IANA and intermodal as a whole. She discusses plans to spread the word about intermodal through broader communications efforts, as well as an increased advocacy role in Washington for the association - something her former organization (the Transportation Intermediaries Association - TIA) prioritized.
She shares how she got into the freight and logistics industry, how she became enamored with the railroad, why she moved from TIA to IANA, and her excitement at the opportunity. Plus, we talk about challenges intermodal faces with regards to market share and questionable owner-operator regulations like California's AB5 - and their effects on drayage. And we touch on the topic that brought her on the podcast previously, broker fraud, and where things stand nearly two years later.
